When did Leviton launch its LinkedIn Spotlight Page and what content does it feature?
McLaughlin: We launched the page around 2020 as part of an effort to find effective, alternative ways to reach distributors with information during the heart of the pandemic. Our LinkedIn page features articles from our popular monthly distributor publication, Leviton Insider, through which we share the latest on new products, programs, and resources as well as relevant industry-related updates that will help position distributors for success. When Leviton Insider publishes on our website or through email, readers can inadvertently miss some of the content in the issue as they drill down into the links associated with any one article. Through our LinkedIn Spotlight Page, we share each article as a separate post so that distributors have easy access to all of our content.
What are the benefits of Leviton’s LinkedIn Spotlight Page to distributors?
Gerrard: In addition to delivering great information in a quick and user-friendly way, the content on Leviton’s LinkedIn Spotlight Page is simple for our salespeople to share with their distributors and for distributors to then share with their customers through the convenience of their mobile device. It’s an easy way to connect, start conversations, and stay in front of your customer.
What kind of traction and feedback has Leviton’s LinkedIn Spotlight Page received?
McLaughlin: Over the past 18 months in particular, we’ve seen a tremendous increase in our audience as our salespeople, distributor partners, and their customers have embraced the page. We receive a lot of positive feedback to each article we post because of the efforts we take to develop original content that’s purposeful for channel members – not just product features, functions, and benefits recycled into an article. We bring in our product, channel, and subject matter experts to discuss product features and applications, marketing programs, sales strategies, and industry developments from distributor and contractor perspectives to help them better understand the topic and proactively capitalize on sales opportunities.
Gerrard: Our content speaks to distributors in easy, conversational language that they can use in their own sales pitches rather than bombarding them with endless feeds that just become more white noise. We subsequently take great pride in the fact that engagement rates with our LinkedIn Spotlight Page are very high – more than double industry standard engagement rates – and that a large percentage of our audience engages with our page very frequently. We’re able to show the value and effective use of social media in ways that have caught the industry’s attention.
