Get Connected with Leviton’s Smart EV Chargers

Offering flexible and high-performing options for both residential and commercial settings, Leviton’s family of Smart EV Chargers puts customers and distributors in the driver’s seat

As the market for electric vehicles continues to heat up – a record 1.2 million were sold in the U.S. in 2023, up 25% over 2022 levels! – demand for smart EV chargers is also on the rise. And when it comes to performance, connectivity, flexibility, and ease of installation and use, Leviton’s Smart EV Chargers are the product of choice.

Home and Away

At the residential level, Leviton’s “EV Series Smart Home” system -- controlled through the ease of the My Leviton App -- puts homeowners in the driver’s seat.

Among other key features, “homeowners will have full visibility to the status of their charging and can set up alerts notifying them of any status changes, completed charging sessions, or faults,” shared Will Lammey, Product Manager for Leviton’s Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). “Among more advanced features, Leviton’s EV Series Smart Home system allows homeowners to remotely start and stop their charge right through the app without having to go to the actual charger (as long as the device is connected to their home Wi-Fi) and can schedule their charging for certain timeframes, such as midnight-5 a.m.,” he said. “In addition, Leviton’s chargers are fully rated for both indoor and outdoor use, and radio-frequency identification (RFID) circuitry built into both the hardware and software enhances security and helps the homeowner control and protect their asset by ensuring that they’re the only one able to access that charger.”

Lammey said that homeowners will also benefit from the breadth of Leviton’s product range. “In homes, people want to control multiple devices from one platform,” he explained. “While many competitors only offer connectivity to EV charging, Leviton offers an entire smart home ecosystem that encompasses EV chargers and many other devices (including smart dimmers, switches, sensors, load centers, etc.) connected right through the My Leviton app, creating a one-and-done solution for homeowners.”

For commercial use for fleets or for installation at workplaces, retail/hospitality settings, and rest areas nationwide as either employee/guest amenities or revenue-generating services, “Leviton’s EV Series Pro is the newest addition to Leviton’s EV Series family, and the installation and look and feel of our commercial system is similar to our residential offering – the only difference is the software,” Lammey said. “For commercial software, we partner with AmpUp, which is a market leader in Level 2 EV charging software, and it’s been very successful.”

While many other competitors can only offer commercial customers one software plan with set features (including some that customers may never use), “AmpUp is very flexible in that it offers three software plans with different levels of functionality,” Lammey said. “Customers can choose from a ‘Starter’ plan, ‘Core’ plan, or ‘Pro’ plan depending on their site needs, which helps ensure that customers get the right plan for their application and budget,” Lammey said.
Whether for home or commercial use, “Leviton has a dedicated EV Charging Support Team standing by to help set up devices or troubleshoot any issues that homeowners, professional users, or channel members may experience, and customers can rest assured that Leviton will always stand by its products,” Lammey confirmed. “While many other EV charger manufacturers have only been in the market a short time, Leviton is a trusted source with well over a century of industry leadership. We’re invested in this market and are here to stay.”

Partner with a Trusted Provider

“EV charging is an exciting and evolving market with tremendous growth potential and a lot of federal and utility funding,” Lammey noted. “At Leviton, we’ve been experts in this emerging market for nearly 15 years and can be a source of education for our distributor partners in terms of offering both technical support as well as guidance on the availability of local utility rebates and the products that qualify.”

“Leviton also has an entire offering beyond EV chargers, so for projects requiring power, protection, safety, energy management, metering, and more, we have a robust solution,” Lammey concluded. “We take pride in simplifying the EVSE purchase process for distributors by providing all of the components they need and delivering peace of mind based on their quality, compatibility, connectivity, and ease of use.”
