Partners in Sustainability
In our industry, one of the biggest generative topics is “sustainability.” Everyone is working together on making a greener world for tomorrow’s generations.
In the November 2022 Insider, we published an article entitled “Powering a Path to a Net Zero World” which outlined Leviton’s commitment to continue to reduce our environmental impact to become leaders in environmental stewardship. Leviton’s program, called CN2030, focuses on our goal to have all of our business operations carbon neutral (CN) by 2030 and verified as net-zero by 2050. Throughout the year we will update you on our sustainability programs and progress.
A big part of Leviton’s commitment is to empower all customers and our channel partners to be more sustainable, as well.
Implementing Programs towards Sustainability
One of our partners noted, “A core capability of our business is helping our customers save energy, use resources wisely and meet their environmental sustainability goals.” Using continuous improvement methodologies, distributors are investing time and energy to help customers identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency and increase safety in their operations. The programs include: |

- Paperless digital processes, where paper trails can be turned into e-mail trails. Digitization of product information, orders, tracking and delivery can now be managed electronically. - Reducing waste to reduce landfills through smarter packaging practices, including using recycled packaging and shipping materials. Many distributors are “kitting” products that are being shipped to customer sites to reduce the packaging and waste at the job site. An example is Leviton Bulk Packs of residential devices and wallplates. In addition, many of our partners have implemented recycling policies within their own locations and branches.
- Lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) is being achieved through changing shipping methods, such as pallet sharing of products and scheduling combined deliveries in local areas to reduce the trucks on the road. Many distributors are planning to purchase electric vehicles (trucks) as an alternative to gas-powered delivery transportation.
- Supporting the growing number of EVs. More charging stations are being installed in residences as well as in public, municipal, and commercial locations. Installer support is available via Leviton’s EV-Pro certification training program.
- Installing sensors, lighting controls and LED lights in many of the showrooms and warehouses to showcase electrical energy efficiency for contractors and walk-in customers.

- Decora Smart: switches, dimmers, smart plugs, motion sensors and fan controllers to help make homes more energy efficient. Scheduling and control using the My Leviton app or voice with Amazon Alexa™, Google Assistant™, or HomeKit™/Siri®.
- Evr-Green®, an expansive portfolio of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) for residential, commercial, and public locations.
- Leviton Load Center – offering smart circuit breakers that enable users to monitor and manage energy usage via the My Leviton App
- My Leviton app – This mobile app gives users remote monitoring and control of the Leviton Load Center, all Leviton smart devices, and the latest Evr-Green EV charging stations via smartphone, tablet, or desktop.
Sustainability is a mission everyone shares. While we have achieved much with our solutions, we continue to look for ways to identify areas focused on all environmental, social and governance (ESG) improvement measures so that we can continue to provide new solutions to make a difference towards a brighter future for everyone. |
