Priorities: Safety and Performance Matters
When it comes to products for industrial environments, Leviton’s priorities are focused on safety and performance – safety for the operators and performance for maximum uptime and production efficiency. To Leviton, “Performance Matters.” Leviton focuses on our promise to deliver industrial products that outperform and outlast. From initial concept and engineering to final testing, Leviton products exceed industry standards and are backed by extensive warranties.
Industrial manufacturing environments demand products to withstand extreme conditions ranging from high-temperature, high-pressure washdowns, extreme temperature ranges, severe impact, or even exposure to contaminants and corrosive chemicals. Leviton develops innovative product solutions to endure these harsh conditions.
While last month we focused on Leviton’s commercial solutions within the Performance Matters portfolio, this month we are focusing on Leviton’s industrial solutions, including IEC 60309 Pin & Sleeve Devices, Manual Motor Starters and Controllers and Safety Disconnect Switches. These solutions outperform other comparable devices and are backed by Leviton’s industry-leading warranties.
LEV Series IEC 60309 Pin and Sleeve Devices
Pin & sleeve devices allow for portability to connect to different machinery in many different industrial facilities. Leviton’s award-winning LEV Series Pin & Sleeve devices include connectors, plugs, inlets, receptacles, backboxes and mechanical interlocks. These devices were designed to ease installation and withstand any wet or harsh location with the highest and most comprehensive ratings on the market, including IP66, IP67, IP68 and IP69K ratings.
The LEV Series mechanical interlocks incorporate an enclosed safety ON/OFF disconnect switch, as well as an IEC receptacle encased in a watertight enclosure. These easy-to-install interlock devices prevent operating under load, which improves safety in all industrial environments. Mechanical interlocks embedded with award winning Inform Technology further improve safety by communicating data on device health locally and remotely. This allows end-users such as facilities and maintenance managers to understand what is going on inside their mechanical interlocks without having to open them, quickening troubleshooting and response time and improving safety for workers and operations.
Inform Technology is also embedded into the LEV Series plugs and connectors. These devices provide line-of-sight power indication, allowing end-users to quickly identify if power is present at the device level and warning that the device is energized. This allows for faster troubleshooting when there is a power problem.

Powerswitch® Manual Motor Controllers
Powerswitch® industrial grade AC manual motor controllers provide safe and reliable control of a variety of motor loads. Suitable for use as a motor disconnect*, these controllers are available for both single-phase and three-phase applications, with a continuous current rating at voltages up to 600 VAC and the industry’s best horsepower ratings. Built to last and durable enough to perform in harsh environments, these devices meet the highest UL 94 V-0 flammability on the market.
These are available with both metallic and non-metallic enclosures, including NEMA Type 1, Type 3R, and Type 4X, to suit a wide variety of applications. Constructed with nickel-plated straps and screws, these devices ensure corrosion-resistance.

Powerswitch® Safety Disconnect Switches
The ON/OFF capabilities of a safety disconnect switch assures users that an electric circuit is completely de-energized from a power source before performing any maintenance or servicing. According to NEC Article 430.102B, a safety switch must be located in sight of all motors and manufacturing equipment. Powerswitch® safety disconnect switches are watertight, dust-tight, submersible and built to address the requirements of safety, washdown, reduced downtime and code compliance. Available in stainless steel and non-metallic versions, these are designed for superior performance in many applications such as food and beverage processing, manufacturing, marinas, shipyards, and OEM applications.
These electrical safety switches are available in 30/32 Amp, 60 Amp, 80 Amp, and 100 Amp fusible or non-fusible disconnects. These devices incorporate an overmolded handle to provide a firm, anti-slip grip in wet environments. In addition, the heavy-duty handle can accommodate three padlocks for OSHA compliant lockout/tagout. A ¾" standoff from mounting surface allows for easy cleaning behind the safety switch. The unique slope top in 30/32A and 60A versions, features a 15° slope which pushes water and other debris away from the front of the device.
Similar to the LEV Series mechanical interlocks, Powerswitch® non-metallic disconnects are embedded with award winning Inform Technology. Condition monitoring sensors communicate data to end-users locally and remotely, allowing for improved safety and productivity. Like the LEV Series, data is communicated remotely via Wi-Fi or Modbus RTU and can be viewed on the Inform app (mobile and desktop) or on a facility’s existing automation system.
