400-Amp Load Center-Meeting Modern Residential Electrical Needs

Leviton recently launched its brand new 400-Amp Meter Main Load Center panel, along with a 300-Amp model. The 400-Amp Load Center was designed to meet the demand for large, highly electrified homes and future electrical needs for residential energy expansion. Builders can offer customized power solutions, knowing they have enough amperage for projects even over 4000 sq. ft.

Meeting Modern Demands
Sydney Cheatham, Load Center Marketing Specialist-Residential, explained “The 300-and 400-amp meter mains are targeted to large-scale homes and highly electrified new residences looking to ‘future-poof’ their homes or accommodate existing power needs, such as electric vehicles (EV), saunas, pools, hot tubs and backup power supply.”

Greg Rhoades, Director of Marketing, Smart and New Technology Products, went on to add, “The new 400-amp meter mains are also for people who are adding on to their homes, either in square footage, or to add a larger HVAC system. We certainly see people moving to tankless water heaters and other items requiring larger amperage. We continue to put more and more demand on what should go into a house, from an electronic perspective requiring extra juice. That’s where the 400-amp meter panel comes into play.”

Distributors can include the 300A and 400A Meter Main Load Centers to expand their portfolio of load center solutions and see why contractors favor these panels for durability, ease of installation and future expansion.

Key Features and Benefits:
  • Each unit is outfitted with a factory-installed 150A main for the 300, or a 200A main for the 400, with a second main breaker available for purchase.
  • The main breaker features an easy to wire 12-space distribution section with plenty of room to maneuver.
  • The two main breaker sections are divided by an internal barrier, in compliance with 2020 NEC, article 230.71, ensuring the load centers can be tailored to meet the requirements in most installations.
  • Additional applications include homes with additional connected dwelling units such as mother-in-law apartments.

Contractor-Friendly Design: Contractors benefit from up to 25% faster installation time; breakers simply snap into place after the panel has been wired, providing ample room in the gutter (or trough) for the installer to work.

Smart Upgrade Options Leviton’s modular Load Center configuration enables easy replacement of traditional breakers with 2nd generation smart breakers and electricians can upgrade or add breakers incrementally as future needs arise. The My Leviton App also allows for energy use monitoring, scheduling and tracking of either grid or solar power and provides notifications when a breaker trips and why.

Proud Innovation “Leviton is proud to engineer products that are the keystone of a robust electrical infrastructure, and the 300A and 400A load centers allow us to serve even more customers in the residential sector.” Said Greg Rhoades, Director of Marketing, Smart and New Technology Products.

Leviton’s commitment to quality and innovation ensures, products meet the demands of customers while contractors and installers appreciate the solutions that save them time and deliver dependable performance.
