Leviton Steps Up Their Game at the
2023 NECA Conference
Leviton captivated the crowd with, hands-on demos in their booth at the recent NECA Conference. It was held September 29 - October 2, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. Their theme “Learn More, Sell More, and Do More with Leviton” was focused on contractor engagement, not only with the latest product solutions but on how to increase value and added sales with every job and how to save time and get more jobs done faster. These included a wide variety of the latest products from both the electrical and networking groups at Leviton. Here are some of the Leviton highlights from NECA.
Decora Edge - a Showstopper
“Our expanded smart IoT products, EV advancements and even networking solutions created quite the buzz in the exhibit hall. But in my opinion the biggest draw was the hands-on touchy-feely new product demos, especially the contest to wire our new Decora Edge receptacles and switches,” states Tracey Loubier, Leviton’s training and events manager for the Commercial and Industrial division. The Decora Edge™ is an innovative wiring device featuring patent-pending terminals that makes it faster, safer, and easier to wire with the simple ‘push, click, and done’ methodology. Compared with traditional switches and outlets, Decora Edge revolutionizes wiring and installation by enabling users to easily push the stripped 14-gauge or 12-gauge electrical wire into a termination port, close a lever that audibly clicks into place, and terminate the connection with complete confidence. In the booth, participating contestants were timed and they were amazed at how quickly they could wire these devices, mainly due to the simple color-coding and no-screw terminals. In addition, because there are no exposed electrical conductors, the Decora Edge becomes one the safest wiring devices in the industry. Distributors are quickly adding these to their shelves replacing previous traditional products.
“As a testament to the innovation of Decora Edge, it received one of the ‘Showstopper’ awards from NECA,” stated Julia Cavaluzzi, marketing specialist for Leviton’s Commercial and Industrial business division. The annual Showstopper Showcase, which highlights the newest products and services on the market, included more than 170 entries this year. From those entries, 25 products are selected by the panel of judges from NECA and these will be featured in the January issue of Electrical Contractor magazine. Amping Up EV Chargers
In addition, installers were very interested in Leviton’s new EV Pro Contractor Certification and wanted to “Learn and Sell More” in EV infrastructure with products such as surge protection and submetering. A little learning could go a long way as distributors could benefit from understanding the opportunities in EV Charging as well. There are trainings for both distributors and contractors through Leviton’s EZ-Learn site. Registration is free, visit Leviton.com/ezlearn for more information, and pass it on to your loyal customers too.
Another first – Low Voltage Solutions
A growing change for many electrical contracting companies is that there are now overlapping line voltage and low voltage technologies such as PoE (Power over Ethernet) making Leviton’s solutions attract both industries. A first, in the Leviton booth at NECA, was demonstrating networking products and solutions for an audience of primarily electrical installers.
Chuck Bowser III, RCDD, Tech, and the Technical Training Manager for Leviton’s Network Business Unit, demonstrated hands-on termination with the Leviton Atlas Category 6A jack. Bowser states, “I was surprised by the amount of interest there was in low voltage solutions at an electrical show, and even though I was demonstrating copper connectivity, the biggest interest was in fiber optics including questions on design, solutions, and training.” He adds, “The second thing that caught my interest was the large number of JATC instructors who wanted more information to compliment the low voltage solutions that they already have.”
As technology moves forward, there will be more cross-integration between line and low voltage products, and you can be sure that Leviton will be your partner in helping you to “Learn More, Sell More and Do More” in residential, commercial and industrial applications. |
