Leviton’s Smart Sensor App: Your Virtual Lighting Control Assistant

Leviton’s wireless Smart Sensor App enables convenient control of Leviton’s commercial Smart Wallbox and Smart Fixture Mount Sensors with the touch of a button.

Leviton’s popular and high-performing line of Smart Sensors combine the benefits of occupancy sensing with dimming to provide a simple, commercial-grade solution for energy savings and code compliance. And with the push of a button, all of this and more can be conveniently configured and controlled through Leviton’s Smart Sensor App.

“Leviton’s Smart Sensor App allows users to wirelessly set up and program commercial-grade Smart Sensor devices without physically accessing the device or having to climb a ladder,” explained Cassandra Cuddy, Leviton’s Associate Product Manager, Controls.

According to Cuddy, the App offers users control over a broad range of settings.

“In the realm of occupancy sensing, for instance, users can control timeouts and sensitivity and can enable or disable occupancy and vacancy per the specific Smart Sensor involved,” she said. “In the area of daylighting, the App can enable or disable daylighting and engage various daylighting modes (Smart Fixture Mount Sensor Only) and daylight transition lighting. And the App can also enable the grouping of up to 16 devices for consistent occupancy, activate partial-ON and partial-OFF settings, and engage in scheduling and a range of advanced features.” Compatible with Leviton’s commercial Smart Wallbox and Smart Fixture Mount Sensors, the App makes lighting control easier than ever for such audiences as contractors, distributors, facility managers, maintenance personnel, and end users/occupants.
Specifically, “the App simplifies the programming of multiple sensors for contractors, eases the process of making sensor modifications for facility managers, and gives occupants control over the lighting in their space, which studies show can lead to greater job satisfaction and productivity,” Cuddy said. “At the same time, the Smart Sensor App can be used to program settings into the sensors that ensure their compliance with such energy codes as IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, and 2022 Title 24, Part 6 occupancy/vacancy sensing and dimming requirements.”

In terms of its user-friendliness, “the App is intuitive and easy to navigate for users of all skill and experience levels with lighting control,” shared Cuddy, who noted that contractors can program large numbers of sensors quickly and efficiently with little or no training thanks to the App’s “Helpful Hints” feature, which explains the meaning of terms and how these capabilities can be utilized.

“In designing this App, we worked closely with our customers to understand and address their pain points,” Cuddy confirmed. “Our goal was to create an app that provides a seamless, frustration-free, and successful sensor configuration experience for all users and we’re excited with the results of our efforts and the value that the Smart Sensor App adds to the Smart Sensor line.”
