| Decora Smart® – Keeps on Smarting Published June 2021 Decora Smart® is Leviton’s recognized premier line of smart home products, originally focused on remote operations of lights and fans. The first generation of smart dimmers brought many unique benefits to consumers, such as eliminating a hub and allowing complete wireless capability to set timing and dimming of lights, all controlled through an easy, intuitive app – My Leviton, which can easily be downloaded to any smart device. Since the first introduction, there has been an explosion of smart technology in the home as customers want to use their voice to go handsfree and set schedules around their lifestyle. Moving forward Leviton offers many more options for contractors to build a complete eco-system of smart devices to fit any customer’s needs – whether it’s a retrofit or new build. Decora Smart continues to evolve by adding more features to become smarter and has moved into the 2nd generation with more devices with expanded capabilities. The Decora Smart HomeKit Solutions has been integrated into the Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen products, giving customers the "choice of voice" with either Siri, Google, Alexa - or a mix of both. This combines the capabilities of two previous products built into one device to provide a dimming, switching, and smart plug solution. The brains live inside of each dimmer and switch and don’t require a hardwired bridge, panel or hub, resulting in very low bandwidth on the home network. As with all Decora Smart devices, everything is controlled through the My Leviton app which allows custom settings for each device. Through the My Leviton app, customers can even select bulb types and fade rate, as well as many preset options. Leviton recently released Decora Smart Wire-Free Anywhere Companions. These wireless switches pair with the home’s primary Decora Smart Wi-Fi switch (2nd Gen) to control the same lights. All electronics are built in to these peel and stick units, which can be placed anywhere within a 50 ft. range of the hard-wired Decora Smart master switch. Think of the convenience for those who cannot reach a typical wall switch or even adding another switch for a dark hallway. The setup is simple and the slim profile matches the existing Decora devices. Up to three Anywhere Companions per Decora switch can be installed by either sticking it directly to the wall, screwing it into the wall or to an existing wall box. These also work with HomeKit, making it easier for installers, more robust for end users and gives distributors many options to offer their customers. The new Decora Smart Voice dimmer with built-in Amazon Alexa combines Wi-Fi lighting with the convenience of Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant in a self-contained device without having to buy an external Alexa device. It’s a 3-way wireless device so it can be controlled from multiple locations. If the natural light is dim or non-existent, the voice command can easily brighten the light levels at any time. Other features include preset lighting levels, fade rates, and bulb types. In addition to fully automating the lighting and scheduling through voice control, other Alexa (or Google) applications can be used, such as music streaming, news updates and announcements. Homeowners find this a perfect device in entryways, so they can set preferences when they leave and also when they return home. For contractors, the My Leviton Pro app adds more customized features and provides a special “1-800” direct line for technician support.
